Mikahely is a self-taught world musician and singer/songwriter, who plays guitar, and Malagasy string instruments, the Valiha with 18 strings and the Marovany with 22 or more strings. His original songs are inspired by traditional Malagasy folk music and lullabies with ceremonial rhythms, transcending cultural boundaries and transporting listeners to another world.
He fell in love with music as a child and started playing and composing music at around age seven. Mikahely’s early exposures were mainly Malagasy folk and ceremonial music and traditional rhythms. He feels it was his destiny to become a musician and that his ancestors chose him to be the messenger to share Malagasy music with the world. Mikahely has worked over the years to hone his craft and most of his songs are in his native language, Malagsy. His soothing melodies and lyrics blend together to express his hopes for the healing of humanity and the planet.
