Join us in the historic barn at Bread & Butter Farm for a very special concert with Taylor Ashton. Reid Parsons to open. We are huge fans and think you will be too.
Taylor Ashton is a shape-shifting songwriter with the heart of a novelist and the timing of a stand-up comic. An inventive clawhammer banjo and guitar player with a distinctive warm baritone voice, his songs are intricately crafted stories and meditations on love, life, and memory. Whether solo, with a trio, or a six-piece band, his live shows unfold like a play: vulnerable, funny, and slyly profound. Laughter often gives way to a hush. Born in Vancouver and now based in Brooklyn, he cut his teeth fronting Canadian folk band Fish & Bird before launching a solo career with The Romantic (2020) and Stranger to the Feeling (2023). Ashton’s performances of his original songs have been featured everywhere from the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to the New York Times, and he has established himself as a staple of Brooklyn’s quirky folk scene.
Reid Parsons is a Vermont-born singer-songwriter whose music blends soul, folk, blues, and jazz-infused Americana into something both grounded and expansive. Her debut full-length album Back to Back, released at the end of April 2025, showcases her signature style: expressive vocals, layered arrangements, and songs that are as emotionally resonant as they are sonically rich. Written, arranged, and produced by Parsons herself, the record moves confidently between intimate ballads and full-band tracks with a deep sense of groove and feeling.Influenced by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, and Frazey Ford, Parsons brings a fearless, genre-blending energy to the stage. Her sound draws from the raw power of the blues, the storytelling of folk, and the improvisational spirit of jazz. Whether solo or backed by a band, her performances are marked by sharp musicianship, lyrical depth, and a tone that’s warm, soulful, and distinctly her own.
