6 Family Events this Summer

Join our farm team for our 8th season of Burger Night – a celebration of our community, this land, and the food that is grown here.  Each Burger Night will feature a family style from-the-land meal; live music, as well as farming inspired activities like interactive tours and eco art projects.  Each event will have a guiding theme that will shape the activities we offer. Plus, Mister Chris & Friends will perform for the kiddos and invite families to join the cherished Burger Night Parade!  We are also thrilled to pare back the food ordering process and offer a family style buffet line so you can fill your plates with our simple, delicious food.

Farm to Plate Family Style Meal

A simple, farm fresh meal raised and prepared with the utmost care.

We will offer 6 oz. grass-fed beef burgers, Vermont Bean Crafters veggie burgers & hotdogs, fresh from our garden salads, and all of our favorite toppings - pickles, grilled scallions, fermented kraut and our special sauce. All meals come with a refreshing herbal tea and gluten-free cookie from Blank Page Café. As always, we are happy to accommodate most allergies and will offer gluten free & bunless options. Meal Service: Our meal service will be family style!  This means that for your ticket, you will be able to go through the buffet line and fill your plate with all the offerings without the hassle of ordering a la carte!

Weather: We will not cancel due to inclement weather. Unless there is torrential rain or thunder/lightening, we will run the event.  Each event will have an inclement weather date of the following Friday for those extreme weather events.

Refunds: We will not offer any refunds for BN tickets purchased, if we need to use the inclement weather date, we will also not offer refunds.  Please understand this policy when you purchase your ticket.

Dog Policy: Dogs are not allowed at Burger Night.  Although we love our furry friends, we have enough furry friends on the farm!  Just kidding, we love dogs. But, we want to make sure all animals (human and four-legged) stay safe and sound.  Please leave your furry friends at home.

We are a Working Farm: A farm is a place with some inherent dangers.  Please understand you are coming to a farm and we ask that you respect our home and space.  We have large equipment, tall hay bales, electric fences, tall grasses, biting insects, prickly plants, rocks, splintery wood, and more.  Kiddos are welcome to run free and be kiddos but we ask that parents keep a close eye on their little ones and help everyone stay safe.  Take the correct precautionary steps necessary for yourself and your little ones – you know best what that means!

2018 Line-up and Tickets

Every week we will feature a foot-stompin, ear-pleasin' band, a family-style, from-the-land meal, and farming inspired activities to welcome you and your kiddos into our farm life. Kerubo

KeruBo is a performing Afro-Jazz artist, originally from Kenya who is now a Vermonter, living in the Burlington area with her family.

She has more than 20 years’ experience performing all over the world in music festivals as a singer and dancer. Her style of music is a blend of African Traditional Music, with inflections of Brazilian Samba/Bossanova, Jazz, and Blues.

KeruBo sings African folk music and Afro jazz, from slave spirituals, African laments, civil rights songs, story songs, gospel songs, and beyond... Her influences are from generations of music artists and songwriters but more particularly – Achien’g Abura, Miriam Makeba, Dorothy Masuka and Nina Simon. She feels that these notable, strong-minded, female singers effectively used their music as a powerful medium for bringing awareness and rebuking social injustices. They told human truths as they saw it without worrying about consequences.

KeruBo’s music is about preserving her culture and heritage, while highlighting social issues affecting vulnerable minority groups such as women and children.

The Story Of Burger Night

Burger Night began in 2011 as a way for us to celebrate our farm raised products. We love grilling up our grass-fed beef burgers alongside healthy and delicious side salads, where almost all of the ingredients are grown here on the farm. Enjoying live music and sharing a burger has become a favorite way to connect with our community. We revel in watching all the kiddos playing in the fields and folks strolling through the greenhouses and gardens - connecting what they see growing and grazing in the fields to what they are eating on their plates!

Motivations for Change

We believe that this new format will serve as an important part of our community farm model, and help our small farm continue to thrive for generations to come.  7 years ago, we wanted to create community around incredible food through music and celebration  To be honest, Burger Night exceeded our wildest expectations. The support and outpouring from YOU, our community, has been incredible and more than we could have ever expected!

After 7 seasons of running weekly events for the whole of the growing season, we have decided to focus the immense amount of energy and resources it takes to make Burger Night happen into fewer, more intentional events.  We know that this will allow us to spread our limited energys more evenly across all the demanding farm needs and projects, as well as maintain this beautiful community event that we all have come to know and love as Burger Night!

During this year's Burger Nights, we hope to shift our energy towards sharing more of what actually happens here on the farm and we'll be offering activities for you to jump in to.  We're still dreaming these up, but imagine - a grazing tour with with farmers Brandon and Lauren to visit the cattle and chat about their role in soil stewardship, working with clay along side our artist in residence, Nancy, or an enchanting walk to the knoll to learn about traditional fire building with Village School mentor Alex.

Thank you for the long and love support, and we look forward to simplifying and creating a more intimate experience for all, true to the origins of Burger Night.
